Painting is so much more than portraits, still-life, and landscapes. In this class, we will spend 4 weeks exploring the possibilities of paint. Previous skills in painting (or even just art at all) are absolutely not required- creative play is for everyone! The main paints we will explore are watercolor, acrylic, and gouache.

Week One: Tips,Tricks, Palettes and Tape
Did you know there is a proper way to mix cohesive color palettes that doesn’t leave you spending hours trying to pick matching colors? Additionally, pesky straight lines and crisp layers are not magically easier for artists, we use tools like tape! This week is all about basic tricks to make painting more approachable.

Week Two: Squee Gee Painting
Forget normal boring painting- let’s squee gee! Using tape, acrylic paint, and squee gees we are going to drag paint across the surface of our painting to create unique marks only achievable using this method.

Week Three: Water Etched Watercolors
Paint with watercolors in an entirely new way! Using Liquitex varnish as a sealant over a field of color to create patterns when the paper is washed, we are going to create works of art that are sure to spark some new ideas for you.

Week Four: Bubble Painting!
Loosen up and let the paint bubbles do the work this week! By adding soap to paint and using straws, we are going to explore this silly, fun, brushless way of painting.
